Planet Smash Destruction
Planet Smash Destruction is a free space-sandbox destruction game where you pick a planet, pick a weapon, and tear voxel worlds apart. There are no missions to beat: you experiment, reset, and try a new tool. This guide covers the questions players ask most: which weapon to use, how to destroy Earth fast, Planet Smash versus System Smash, controls and reset, secret unlocks, the Machine World shield, and smooth browser play.
All weapons and tools: what each type does
The full mobile game lists around 34 weapons plus defense tools, with about nine that have adjustable settings. Browser builds may show fewer tools, but the categories work the same way. Open a category on the right, choose one tool, then click or tap the planet.
- Space rocks and holes: Asteroid for a single deep crater, Meteor Shower for a wide scatter of small hits, Moon impact for massive area damage, Black Hole that grows, removes everything within about twice its visible size, then shrinks, plus Vortex storms and Wormhole in System Smash.
- Explosives and beams: Nuclear Missiles that scatter around your tap, Fusion Core bombs that wait until damaged then chain-detonate, Remote Detonate missiles, Anti-Matter Missiles that strip surface in a wide radius, Plasma bolts, continuous Energy Beam laser, Gauss Cannon that cuts a clean line through the planet, and Kinetic Artillery rapid lasers.
- Ships and satellites: UFO that flies in and fires a wide beam, Mothership variants, Orbital Cannon satellite that orbits and fires at the core, Fighter Wing squadrons, Battleship bombardment, Planet Killer satellite that charges and fires a planet-cracking beam, Mining Drill that bores straight through, plus Gravity Generator ships in System Smash.
- Monsters and titans: Swarm locusts that scorch surface, Leviathan space worm that burrows through, steerable Monarch, Abyssal Devourer tentacles that pull a chunk away, giant Celestial that punches after a short stare, plus novelty variants.
- Defense tools: Shield Ship that projects a regenerating hexagonal shield, Defensive Satellites that shoot down incoming weapons, and Mines that attack nearby ships.
Two settings change results most: missile amount and strength. Nuclear Missiles can go from one precise missile to up to 100 missiles at high strength for a surface wipe. Plasma and laser strength often runs 0.5 to 5, with strength 5 among the hardest single hits. Look for the settings cog after you select a customizable weapon.
Best weapon for each job
There is no one weapon best at everything. Use this rule:
- Fastest finish: Planet Killer on a fresh planet. It fails if the planet is already badly cracked, so fire it first.
- Most population damage: Anti-Matter Missile, then high-amount Nuclear Missiles aimed at big continents on Earth.
- Against shields: stacked Black Holes or Mining Drill. Nuclear Missiles are a good all-round shield breaker.
- Precision: one Nuclear Missile or Gauss Cannon for a clean hole or ship kill.
- Fast weapon count: Kinetic Artillery or held Meteor Shower, plus rotating four different weapons per planet for variety bonus in the app.
Fastest way to destroy Earth
Earth is the default reference planet with the largest population and a realistic core layout. For a quick repeatable test:
- Reset the scene so you start from undamaged Earth.
- Fire Planet Killer immediately, before adding other damage. Let the charge and beam finish.
- If Planet Killer is not in your build, aim for the core: one deep Gauss Cannon, Mining Drill, or Moon impact through the center, then speed up time and watch for self-destruction.
- For population wipes without full breakup, use one Anti-Matter Missile or high-amount Nuclear Missiles on populated land, then fast-forward.
- Reset and compare one tool at a time at the same spot. Otherwise old damage hides what the second tool actually did.
Other spectacular finishers are a sustained laser on the Sun until supernova, which also takes any planet on screen, and spreading space storms around the planet to break it into chunks. Gas giants and ringed planets are much slower than Earth; Mercury and Pluto are much faster.
Planet Smash vs System Smash
Planet Smash is single-planet play. You choose one voxel planet that can be taken apart completely, from rocky Earth and Mars to gas giants, icy moons, and special worlds. Use it to learn weapons, test core hits, and compare damage.
System Smash is solar-system scale. Planets move, so you can drag bodies onto collision courses, edit orbits in orbital mode, remove the Sun to see how orbits react, open wormholes, or feed matter into a Black Hole. Maps and physics load are bigger, so expect more slowdown on weak devices.
Switch from the mode screen, not inside a run. In Planet Smash use the planet-picker icon at lower left to change targets. Use the circular-arrow or rewind icon to reset the current planet or system for a fresh experiment.
PC and mobile controls, zoom and reset
- Basic order: wait for the player to load, press Play, choose Planet Smash or System Smash, pick a category on the right, pick one tool, then click or tap the planet. Category alone is not a selection.
- PC browser: left mouse button to select, aim and fire. Drag to rotate the view. Use the on-screen time buttons at the top to pause, slow down, or speed up destruction.
- Touch: tap to select tools and tap the planet to fire. Drag to rotate or move bodies in System Smash.
- Settings and aim: the cog icon opens strength, size, amount, speed, color, or variant where available. Turn on aim mode for precise satellite, UFO, or Grid placement.
- Reset: tap the rewind or circular-arrow icon, usually at lower left, to regenerate the target with full population and zero damage.
- View: zoom in to see molten cracks and burning overlay, zoom out to watch debris fields. Use fullscreen if controls feel cramped, Esc to leave it on desktop.
If a click seems to do nothing, check that a tool is selected, the pointer is on the playable planet rather than a menu, and any camera tutorial overlay is closed or skipped.
Secret planets, achievements, levels and Galaxy Smash
In the official app, achievements hand out most hidden content and pay XP once per profile. Levels then unlock variants and planets on their own, roughly from level 2 Moon and Terraformed Mars up to high-level Black Hole, Death Star, and icy moons at level 7. The browser port you play here does not always track that mobile achievement and level system, so treat these as app unlocks to try in the full game.
- Shape planets with the Grid tool: Cube Earth by clipping X, Y, Z near middle and clearing outside, then reset. Flat Earth with X and Z wide and Y narrow, then reset. Same idea for Cube Mars and Flat Mars. Donut by making the flat disc first, then punching a center hole with a Gauss Cannon shot and resetting.
- Reset-timing planets: Pumpkin is Planet Killer on Earth, reset while the whole planet is orange but before it explodes. Snowman is freezing all of Earth with the Freeze Ray. Gingerbread Man is Planet Killer on Snowman, reset while orange. Ghost World is destroying Earth using only the Celestial. Block World is Cube Earth plus a Healing Missile, then reset.
- Custom Planet numbers: type an exact population before saving for number-based unlocks, leave a Custom Planet completely unedited then let a solar supernova take it for Waterworld, and use Snowballs on the exposed Machine World core for Snow Globe.
- Galaxy Smash: destroy the Sun with a Black Hole in System Smash and reset, repeat in other star systems, then destroy the Sun with a Black Hole in Planet Smash and reset. This unlocks a galaxy-scale mode with star-removing lasers and attracting or repelling magnets.
If a planet will not unlock, the usual causes are a higher level than expected, a missed reset step, the planet exploding before reset, or playing a browser build without the unlock system.
Machine World shield and how to use defense
Machine World is a metal planet with a regenerating hexagonal shield and a core in the center. Weak weapons bounce off or do surface damage only, which is why new players think the game is broken.
- Drop the shield first with stacked Black Holes, a Mining Drill that passes through shields, or sustained Energy Beam fire, then hit the exposed core quickly before the shield returns.
- Nuclear Missiles at high amount are a reliable all-round shield breaker when Black Holes are not available.
- To protect Earth instead of breaking it, place a Shield Ship to project a regenerating barrier, ring the planet with Defensive Satellites in aim mode to shoot down missiles and fighters, and add Mines against ships. Reset after placing a full ring to lock in orbital-ring experiments.
Play unblocked free without download, fix lag and loading
You can play this version free in the browser with no download and no account on desktop, mobile, and Chromebook-style browsers. If your school or work network blocks game sites, an unblocked mirror may still be blocked by network policy; there is no in-game switch to bypass that.
- Stuck loading: wait for the game screen before pressing Play, refresh once, then try an up-to-date browser.
- Black or blank frame: allow third-party embedded content, disable a blocking extension, or try another browser.
- Lag during big attacks: avoid firing a dozen monsters, UFO fleets, and Black Holes at once, lower graphics in the menu, close other tabs, and use fullscreen on desktop.
- Saves: storage belongs to the web build and browser privacy settings, so progress and settings may differ from the official mobile app.
Quick FAQ
Why did Planet Killer fail? It works best on a fresh planet. On a badly cracked world the final breakup animation may not trigger.
How do I compare weapons fairly? One tool, one spot, let the animation finish, reset, then try the next tool.
Where is reset? The rewind or circular-arrow icon, usually at lower left for planets and for the system scene.
Do I keep unlocks in this browser? Expect a sandbox session, not a full profile. For secret planets, XP levels, and Galaxy Smash progression, use the official app.
